Greek mythology, and mythology in general, can be very fruitful material to base a film on. Strangely, not many filmmakers choose to go that way. I am very glad that this film was made: while it may not be entirely comprehensible for people who have never heard the complete story (i.e. what's with the sheep) and some parts are simply missing (essential part of the original story was that Odysseus and his men were held captive in the Cyclope's cave), it still gives an idea of the incredible adventures Odysseus had on his 10-year journey home. Sadly, this film focuses more on the bloody part of the story than on a coherent plot and building up of tension. Some of the lines seem to come from a metric translation of Homeros' poem, which adds to the general impression the film makes.
