The BrickFilms Wiki

Windows

The most recent version of Windows available is Windows Vista. However, Vista’s predecessor, Windows XP, is the more common operating system within the Brickfilms community.

Windows XP requires a more powerful computer than earlier versions of Windows. It is recommended that XP be run on, at a minimum, a 300-MHz Pentium III with 128 megabytes of memory. Most new computers easily exceed these minimal requirements but users who wish to use older machines often find that Windows 98SE is a better fit to their less powerful hardware.

Windows 98SE is older than XP but can perform nicely even on 66MHz Pentiums with 64 megabytes of memory. Windows 98 doesn’t support hard drives larger than 128 gigabytes in size and and the size of individual files can not be larger than 4 gigabytes. Windows 98 can sometimes crash if too many programs are run at the same time (the occurence of these crashes can be reduced with proper maintenance of the system in the registry).

Regardless of whether you use XP or 98SE, there is a lot of software available which is useful for the aspiring brickfilmer (visit the Windows software page for more details).
