  • Fun concept and some good fighting animation.
However, this video could very well have started at the 1:30 mark. We know who McCain and Obama are so the intro (which makes up half the video) is unnecessary. Even the shots of them walking towards each other don’t add much. Just get to the light-sabers.
If done well, a good pre-fight intro can add…[Read more]

Make sure you use Export as Quicktime Movie, instead of Export Using Quicktime Conversion, then making it a .mov.

If that’s what you’ve been doing, make sure you have the latest version of quicktime on your pc.

There’s always Youtube. Plus, you can post anything you like the forum and you’ll probably get more interesting/informative reviews and feedback there than in the directory.

  • It was even more enjoyable the second time around. Besides the story becoming clearer, the cinematography really stood out for me. I had forgotten how many complex camera moves and focus pulls there were. The sound design was also terrific. I recommend for people to watch this in full screen wearing headphones.

One thing that really stood out to me, though, was the voice acting. You German people seem to be blessed with great voice actors. Great job on that. I would recommend making a version of the film with English subtitles, because the voice acting is simply too good to replace with English speaking actors.

    I agree. Subtitles for…[Read more]

  • The artist strikes again. You created a really incredible world and told the story well. Even the parts I didn’t understand were Ok because the whole thing just looked so amazing.
I was able to follow mostof the story but I had to read over the wiki plot summary to get some of the revelations at the end.
Congrats to you and your girlfriend for…[Read more]

  • Interesting movie, and enjoyable to watch.

I found the acting (particularly the protagonist) to be distractingly poor, though the way the script was written was a little to blame. Still, it felt like more could have been done with it since the lines all felt read, rather than by a person going through the thought-processes.

    That aside…[Read more]

No, that’s not quite what I’m getting at.
The problem is that when I go to look up my very first posts from the forum, none of them appear. A whole bunch of posts from this forum disappeared around the time Revmen bought the site I think (or the forum restarted I can’t remember( and I was just wondering if those posts were around anywhere.

I’m not sure if either of those are what I’m looking for. The forum I want looks just like this one, but it was made just before the rest of site was re-designed to match. Then the site moved to a different server, and the forum lost a whole bunch of posts (or maybe all of them).

  • Set-up for sure. Often by the time I get the blocking and lighting down it’s too late to shoot anything.

  • Funny film. Reminded me of one of the Family Guy or Robot Chicken spoofs. The opening titles weren’t needed (I always skip over them when I watch SW brickfilms) since most people already know the SW backstory.
A better punchline for the end would have been nice, but overall a good effort. Nice to see you took the trouble to have those ships in…[Read more]

  • I guess Rev just had a friend who was interested in getting some businesses experience and sold the site to her. I have a feeling that she really has little interest in brickfilming itself, so she’s bound to be seeing things from a different point of view than the rest of us. (For some reason I keep imagining that she’s Hillary Clinton).

  • Nicely directed PSA.
The only thing it needs to really sell the concept is a different sound for the ring-tone. What you had there just sounded like you were putting the wrong sound-track on top of the video. Using a high-pass filter to make it sound tinny might have helped.

  • The cool thing about Proff is that he is a critic of story first, tech stuff second. Virtually every review on this site say things like “smooth animation but jerky in places” and “lighting was nice” and “how did you do the flying effect?” while Proff discusses the story and characters.
The fact that somebody choses to review a brickfilm as a…[Read more]

  • Lech is right. While it’s trickier to figure out how to use all sorts of seperate components and programs do make your film, you’ll be much better off. Studios was barely up to quality in its time, never mind now.

  • The sand thing, the carpet… brilliant.

Can you guess what landmark the “sand thing” is supposed to be?

Several of the more daring effects sequences, such as the flying carpet, didn’t quite work,

I shot those shots over and over again, but was still unsatisfied with how they came out in the end (In my head the end was going to look like the…[Read more]
