Read about what LEGO has to say on the matter. Consult related issues on websites such as LUGnet (people have published books containing pictures of LEGO creations). And good luck: that is a project of epic proportions. Few people have seen such a project through all the way to the end.

  • It’s cool to see that at least the part of me getting beaten up was animated ;)

I must say that some of the scenes were amazingly well-animated and well-framed. My favourite is the secret passage one. It’s good that you have at least something to show for all the effort that went into it. Well done!

  • I don’t think your reservations are prohibitive. Such kids can, and probably will, be assisted by their parents, and we can – at least for the prize – be a bit lenient when the rules haven’t been adhered to perfectly. And being part of a “big” contest is, of course, much more fun than competing on the sidelines.

I think an age limit is a good…[Read more]

  • With current brickfilms being of near-professional quality and all, I think it may be a good idea to have a prize for the “Best Young Director”. I would be willing to supply a prize for this (I’m thinking of ages 12 and less). I’m thinking about a copy of Richard Williams’ The Animator’s Survival Kit, but a more fun/more appropriate prize around…[Read more]

  • Note that the reason we need ‘screen’ is that we need to run the Java application BFChatServer continuously. If there’s a way to run it as a ‘daemon’ or something, we might not need ‘screen’.

Note that BFChatServer needs read/write access to the /home/brickco/public_html/phpBB2/bfchat/ directory and needs to accept incoming connections from…[Read more]

  • Possibly. The current chat application was built because web-based chat applications had horrible response times. But that was before the advent of AJAX. Still, it seems to me that running a dedicated server will (like IRC or our solution) provide the best chat experience.

On the other hand, if it’s easy to install, it can’t hurt test-driving…[Read more]

  • RP, I don’t know on which site you looked, but the link from this site seems to work just fine.

Make sure to check out his other films too, especially “The Evolution of Creation” and “The Mollusk”. His animation has, if I remember correctly, a rather low framerate, but the set design and other production values make up for that!

  • Nice logo!

I guess I might as well give you permission to show mine. Any one of Animation Class Lesson 1, Great Inventors 2, Daedalus and Icarus, The Dragon, His Master’s Plan, Taste Matters is ok. Most of them are on my website; the latter is here. The other films on my website contain copyrighted music – to show them legally you probably have…[Read more]

  • Thanks, RP! Don’t worry: I definitely don’t feel underrated. Maybe you get that feeling just because I don’t make too many films, but I immensely enjoyed the reception every one of them has had!

I figured it’d be something like that. Good luck with the library!

  • You still didn’t answer brianfast’s question. You’ll make a great politician ;) Let me quote it, just to make sure:

“brianfast” wrote: How come none of your sounds are in the library right now? (or so few compared to the one on your site that I missed them)

And will you integrate sounds from your library to the brickfilms one?

    Stefan.

    7 years, 10 months ago
  • That is rather inconvenient. Oh well…

  • I would like to see an answer to Brianfast’s question. If you are maintaining two sound libraries, how can we be sure you’ll be paying ours enough attention?

  • I sent in my ballot.

Ideally, it would be next to impossible to find a BAMPA staff, because so many of us have made films. So please strive NOT to become a BAMPA judge next year! I know I won’t be, and boy, does it feel good!

It also felt good to watch brickfilms again – something I’ve been doing way too little lately. I found some very well…[Read more]

  • Yes, KasKorp, but Steve and Dave have at least 5 minutes per film, which makes quite some difference. These films have to get their point across way more directly, and moreover, the subject matter is way more narrow (“games” instead of “pop culture”).

Within these confines, I think Meatspace is doing a very good job. I’m not a gamer, but read…[Read more]

  • What a lovely explosion! And the flying move of the fighter was also quite neat. Otherwise, while it’s not as bad as you describe it, it is not much more than a Pointless Fight Film.

  • I simply put a tiny bit of paper around the joint, but the previous suggestions are more secure ways of accomplishing the same – I like Buxton’s solution in particular.
