I don’t have this one but, if you only want to do bluescreening, then check out stupendous software imovie plugins. Stupendous specifically lists theirs as working with iMovie6.
I have many iMovie plugins from GeeThree and Stupendous. They all work about the same, although I think that for the $$ the Stupendous one’s are the best deal.
I own both and have used them with Mac animating software.
The Fire-I is NOT an improvement over the QC4000 so, don’t expect an improvement in image quality… I would say the image quality is about the same on both, the qc4000 might even be a little bit better.
The super-stiff firewire cable that comes out the side of the camera can cause…[Read more]
No frame averaging? *gasp*
I guess I don’t quite understand what the checkbox labeled “Averaging Enabled” is for. Maybe you could explain?
Yes, it’s the initial startup splash graphic that’s a bit garish. Furtunately, it fades away quick.
One other small thing. I like how the video FPS playback rate can be set to any value,…[Read more]
Well done my friend.
(NOTE: The download link on your site doesn’t work properly. It saved it as a .dmg.html file. I had to remove the .html part of the extension after downloading.)
So far, after messing around for about a half an hour, I am very impressed.
I only tested it with a DV webcam but I’d be interested to see how it works with…[Read more]
I will give your software a try and see if i like it better than framethief. review to follow.
“brick mania” wrote: Does all this talk abot sounds being copyright mean that all those Star Trek sounds I got from http://www.findsounds.com are not legal to use in brickfilms?
those are good questions;
You may, or may not, be ok to use sounds from findsounds, I’m not really in a position to say. It may depend on whether…[Read more]

I would disagree with that statement.
Getting some blank minifig heads off the web is MUCH cheaper and easier than using software. You can put custom faces on them using water-slip decals or model paint, or permanent marker.
Changing the heads is really not as much work as you think, and it…[Read more]
Mic’s can’t work magic. In fact, the better the mic, the more sensitive it is to picking up soft sounds and background noise.
Backround noises are always a problem, so they must be minimized.
The good thing is, this mic has a 6-foot long cord, so you can get farther away from your computer.
Also, this is a directional mic, so you…[Read more]
This is a fantastic mic!
This is one of the best stereo mics’s for under $200.
I used to own one. Unfortuntely, I sold it to buy a new Audio Technica… I wish I had kept that Sony…
The fxAnimate free plugin captures directly into iMovie… if you can figure it out an keep it running.
Another way is to use iChat. it has an option to capture images from the vido feed. Then use framesplicer (free from framethief’s page) to merge the photos into a quicktime movie(any framerate you want)… then import it into iMovie.
“ticket” wrote: Dude, you realllly want to use a frame capture program, you can get much higher framerates with a capture prgram than with what ever else you are using.
What?!? You shouldnt post when you have no clue what you are talking about. That’s the dumbest thing i’ve heard all week.

I’ll TRY to keep this short…
(I’ve said this before) I use WinXP, and I maintain Sun Solaris and Linux workstations at the office. At home, I have an old Mac OS X powerbook (also has Yellow Dog Linux installed)… so, being someone who has LOTS of experience on ALL platforms, I can say that OS X is far superior to anything ever…[Read more]

Thats crap! you purchased applecare! I can’t beleive apple is giving you a hard time. Applecare is a BIG money warranty! In years past, having applecare meant that everything was covered… no questions asked.

From past discussions and posts, I’m pretty aware of which members are audio-savvy.
If I start getting polished and professional sounds from complete newbs who know almost nothing about microphones, recording techniques, mixing and mastering software… I’ll toss the sounds in the trash.

Yes, you found the correct microphone I was referring to.
(I made a mistake in the model number)
$75 is a decent price too.
To get the audio from the MD to the computer you wil need an audio cable that connects the HEADPHONE (or LINE-OUT) jack of the Minidisc to the “AUDIO-IN” jack of your sound card. Then, you just record.
It used to be “export” in the old iMovie.
Since iLife ’04 they have renamed it “share”… for whatever reason :roll
either way, “share/export” is the solution.
that is not a valid movie file.
If you used a mac to create it, you left out an important step. the “share” feature of iMovie, which compresses the .mov file into a standalone movie.
getting good gunshot sounds is tough. I still havent found a good way to mimic it.
* Campfire: here is a fire sound I made using a plastic bag and some styrofoam packing-peanuts.
* Door hydaulics: use a bicycle pump! (never blow ON a microphone! direct the air PAST it)

What is a pre-amp in a mic, and what is it’s purpose?
I guess while I’m at it I’ll ask a quick question about mics. What are qualities/attributes that I should look for in a mic?
The audio signal from a microphone is a very small signal. It needs a boost in volume before it can pass through other circuits,…[Read more]
