One thing that can cause this to happen is that you have changed the frame rate in the pin properties window (something the documentation warns about). This is not the frame rate of your animation, but the frame rate the camera tries to stream video from the camera. At low resolutions, the usb link can cope with the amount of data, but at higher…[Read more]
Error 2.01 is caused when the program cannot create the required directory it needs to place the captured frames / .avi file in. This by default is the “captured_frames” directory, a sub directory of the installation directory.
a) You do not have permission to write where you have asked the program to write to.
b) you…[Read more]

or read the documentation online here
In the loop function you can set the number of frames the function jumps back before it plays. By default it is set to 15 frames. You cannot set how long it loops to the live frame as this is fixed at 1 second. Sorry if I didn’t explain this properly.
I also noticed the documentation link no longer works on the settings window this is because I…[Read more]
The loop button does this (hotkey is numpad 0). It plays the last few frames then toggles to the live window for a second before looping again.
You can set the flip to live time in the settings window. See the quickstart documentation on the helium frog website for more details. (follow the documentation link on the left of the webpage).
If you get Helium Frog working with Linux, could you let me know. I have tried and I was about 90% there. The software boots up using Wine software without problems, but I had a problem with the camera drivers. I was using Ubuntu also. I was experimenting with running Ubuntu from a usb stick and it worked great.
I wrote Helium Frog and would…[Read more]
To find out where your problem is do the following.
Open one of the still frames in a paint package and have a look at the quality and also the resolution. The QC 9000 can capture at 1600 x 1200 native resolution at very high quality.
If the still frame image is grainy, then its your camera thats at fault, try to reinstall the driver BEFORE…[Read more]

Helium Frog is unable to add the frame to the existing or newly created .avi file. This can be caused by many things such as:-
a) It has no write permission to the directory or file.
b) The file has been changed and is then a different format from what it is expecting.
c) The file has been moved whilst animating.
d) You…[Read more]
You can work in any frame rate. Just go to the settings window and change the FPS box to your desired rate before animating.
I think I set a maximum limit of 30fps though. (Why would you want any more?)
In fact you can change the FPS at any time whilst animating. The frame rate will then be updated in the animation file when you next take a…[Read more]
Most cameras have a metric thread M6 mounting hole on the bottom. You could epoxy a M6 bolt to a lego plate, or drill a lego plate and bolt them together. The plate then fixes to your base board and would be very secure. You would only need a few bricks for this. This has the added advantage that you can rotate your camera about the bolt if you…[Read more]
You cannot add movies as background, only still images, however you can change the image at any time whilst animating, so in theory you could achieve the same effect but this is rather a difficult way of going about things.
The best way to achieve video overlay is to animate against a green screen and then use video compositing in an editor…[Read more]
Direct show compatible source. This means you have no source device connected that is usable with helium frog. Direct show is the standard format for source devices and covers webcams, firewire, video capture cards etc. etc. The device you connected will not work or is not setup correctly. Check out the FAQ section of the website for more…[Read more]
I have just wrote a piece on the (coughs!)other BIM forum which may explain things a little. Connecting most cameras with a lead to usb just connects them as a remote disk for downloading movies or stills, not as a video stream device. Heres a few things to try:-
1) email Panasonic and ask for a directshow / directx driver.
2) Use the analog…[Read more]
In order to run the program just double click the icon in the installation directory that says “Helium Frog”.
As well as providing a quick start guide which explains how to run the program on my webpage, hiding all the other files except the one that runs the program and calling the icon “Helium Frog” I fail to understand how I could possibly…[Read more]
The Gus gingerbread tutorial is the best place to start. It gives you all the basics. Then I suggest you buy a book as you wont learn too quickly picking up bits from tutorials.

Oh dear, not another one buying a mac then complaining he has no support!
Why not swallow your pride, borrow a PC (a proper one, not one hiding in a fancy box calling itself a Mac) and then google “free batch image conversion”
You will be amazed how easy the world of computing becomes.

I know the Logitech QC9000 is very particular about the install order. Uninstall the camera using the control panel and then install the CD driver BEFORE connecting the camera.
1600 x 1200 is the maximum true resolution. The ones above that are just pixel interpolation.
The base I use works very well, its pretty simple. You can probably work…[Read more]
