A video-based interface that effectively erases hands used to create stop motion will drastically cut down the time and effort required to make animation. http://www.cnet.com.au/stop-motion-animation-made-easy-with-new-tech-339343600.htm

Clever stuff. In our software we help with this problem by:

    1. Allowing you to move multiple objects (within the same frame) in 2D
    2. Allowing you to switch the various objects (in place) with a similar object which could be taken from a different camera shot – to give the object the allusion of 3D characteristics.
    3. All 2D objects can also be rotated with your fingers within the software (if you have a tablet computer) or with the mouse scroll button

With our approach you don’t need rigs or hands to move objects. Of course, you can still do regular stop-motion photography. Some animations may require the use of both methods at the same time.
