I have PM’d Weirdears and the sad news is that he has given up on making his Anne Frank In Bricks film, he is now making live action movies. However, the good news is he has renounced any claim to the film title, so go ahead kiddos, make those films…

Mmh. This is sad news. WeirdEars really retiring from the job? Well, we were all desperately hoping for the great Anne Frank in Bricks, and now he gives up? I won’t leave it this way, no siree!
It’s gonna be me, entering with a magnificent, low budget film, and the most exciting ‘Bicycle’ fragment you’ve ever seen in you entire life.

Forget it. I don’t know what the hell Anne Frank is all about. And I don’t want to even add the bike bit in my version if I were to make it.

You can make the movie about anything, as long as it has the title “Anne Frank in bricks” and is wierd.

OK, I heard someone got a bit touchy about this contest and it’s subject. In the Lively Discussion forum, in the Morals thread, I posted this…

In Britain, for many years a situation comedy called ‘Allo ‘Allo ran on our main channel, BBC One. Whilst it did not tickle my funny bone, it was a mainstream comedy featuring incompetent Nazis, the French Resistance, British airmen hiding out, it had scenes hinting at torture and sado-masochism, and was extremely popular with young and old.

Personally, my amusement at the Anne Frank thing from Weirdears was actually more at the complete lack of association between the film trailer and it’s title. What I am looking for in the challenge is films which similarly display a complete disregard for all the normal rules of film making, finding humour in the unexpected. Other examples might be deliberate continuity errors, the unusual situation in the Anne Frank story, hackneyed dialogue, strange camera angles.

What I was not looking for was a faithful retelling of a death camp in Lego as a humorous film.
