I haven’t got a bible around, so I’m not going to argue here.

These people seem to think that the statement in the bible needs defending. My view is that the person who wrote it was a writer, perhaps a historian, but not a mathematician. It’s just plain short-sightedness to reject all of the bible based on one or a few inconsistencies. In my view, this book has greatly influenced the way we see a modern society, and as such should be respected.
