I just started making stop motion animated films and was thinking I’d like to step up from where I am now with my point and shoot camera. I recently purchased a Nikon D7000 (body only) but am still stuck on which lens to buy. Any things I should look for in particular (focal range, etc.)?

Yeah, macro lens would be a good place to start

Bearing in mind the size of the subject matter, a macro lens would be a good buy…

Best bet would be a medium zoom lens with a large aperture.
