This One is still in the planning stage. It’s a Brickfilm competition to support the launch of Warren Elsmore’s new book, Brick City.
This contest is open to UK residents only and must feature a city or building – real or imagined. The competition details use the example of recreating a famous movie scenes, like King Kong and the Empire State Building.
(There’s the normal restrictions in place like nothing sexually explicit etc.)
There will be prizes for 5 runners up and a prize for the winner. Although the exact start date isn’t set in stone – they’re looking to launch across all the normal social media channels around April 29th and closing date is 31st May.
The movies should aim to be around 30 seconds to 5 minutes in length. (So comic little shorts or mini LEGO man stunts to actual short narratives)
They want people to upload them through whatever video channel suits them best. YouTube or Vimeo etc.
Then Tweet a link to the video entry with the tag #BrickCityComp
There will be a separate Facebook page for the book, that people can visit to see the videos and we’ll promote submissions.
Warren will pick the winner and runners up.
Keep an eye on this thread as I’m encouraging the promoters to add details right here as they become availableMay 16, 2013 at 10:03 am #422286
This competition is almost ready to rock and roll!
There’ve been some changes to the rules and regs and the dates have moved – competition will close on 14th June (but more on that later). Will be announcing the proper rules and spec tomorrow.
Really hope that people enjoy the challenge.
Watch this space!
(And I’ll be posting my horrendous but good meaning attempts on there too [although they’ve obvs not competition entries]. Just working out all the buttons on the bloomin’ DSLR was a nightmare! )May 17, 2013 at 4:12 pm #422304
Right – we’re ready to go!!
Be in with the chance of winning a £200 gift card for the LEGO stores by creating a short LEGO stop motion animation. Easy-peasy for Brick Film fans!!
It only has two limiting requirements (other than keeping it PG13!)
– it can be no longer than 1 minute
– it must feature a building or cityscape – no matter how big or small.
Fun, surreal or serious, slap stick or trailer-esque in nature, anything goes!
UK entrants only (sorry internationals, we don’t have rights to offer prizes for this book outside of our UK borders!)
The winning entry will get a £200 gift card for UK LEGO stores.
There are also prizes for 3 runners up of the treasure trove that is a LEGO creative bucket (item number: 10662.)
As this is all in celebration of the launch of Warren Elsmore’s new book ‘Brick City’ – Warren will be picking the winner.
The Time Frame:
We’re accepting submissions as of right now (9am 17th May 2013) and the competition closes at the stroke of midnight on father’s day, 16th June 2013 (see, helpful reminder there too).
