Here’s a community project that I think could be quite enjoyable for all fans of action, adventure, and fatasy.

Concept: A 1930s archaeologist goes on a great, high stake, dangerous, adventure across the globe

Keep in mind the story is to be developed through disscusion.

This, I think is not only an adorable rendition of an adventure film, but also something that will give great hype for Indy 4.

I hope to have people as interested in this as I am. Thanks

As discussed in chat, it’s a take on Indiana Jones.

I like the idea. We just have to figure out a plot and how to include people in the project, i.e. multiple animators doing multiple scenes.

I like the idea too. Indy 4 comes out May 2008. If we were to go on with this concept/project would the main charecter look like Indy or would it be original?

I personally think it should look like Indy, we can use the Johnny thunder figure (I think it was johnny thunder)

Neat idea. We could use the Johnny Thunder set line as a basis for some of the locations the character visits, and perhaps even include some other similar characters to those in the sets.

I like the idea, but I admit I groaned at the prospect of another community project (at this time). But if it can be pulled off, awesome.

An Indy lookalike is cool, but we should not use Johnny Thunder. That is a character owned by the LEGO company, and though I don’t know exactly what type of laws apply to such characters, I think we should avoid using any recognizable LEGO characters. We can certainly use his hat and shirt, though.

It would probably be best if we avoided Nazis, too.

If this pulls through, I so want a sequence involving a zeppelin.

Ah nuts, screw Lego, as long as you put the not endorsed by them, that is fine. What are the going to do, get heavy with a legal team on their fan/customer base and risk loosing what little loyalty they have these days, all over a not for profit fan film. I doubt it very much.

Why not ask for brickfilmers from different countries to do a short film based on an adventure in their own country setting. That way you’d end up with a world wide film.
In each location/country your character would have an adventure and find a single clue
Once all the clues are obtained the final goal can be achieved

I agree, we don’t need to use Johnny Thunder specifaclly, I simply meant using his basic get up as a costume we can change his head and name.

However, I think it would feel more like a 30s adventure film if we did use Nazis, I’m nit saying lets put swastickas all over the place, but it would add to the expierence if we used that.

This would be cool. Theres not a lot of adventure movies like this too. Like Si665 said, taht would be cool if there were multiple guys, but that would be harder. I have my hands pretty much full right now with Kensington, but I might be willing to help, depending on when I’d have to help.

Wel, I am aware that there are many different porjects out right now, so I’m in no rush to work on this but I thought I would propose it now so people could discuss the basic story.

Nice idea the whole Egypt stuff with the mumies and sceletons is great. But I guess we need a cool plot that is easy dividable right?
Has anyone played Rick Dangerous on the amiga I guess? Simple jump and run, but he had to avoid lots of traps and some of them were just amazing.

Maybe we should write down ideas that belong in the genre and what should be avoided at all costs

to get it started
do:
mummies
hero
babe from hero
curse
scelleton
diamonds
zeppelin
trap
secret door

don´t do:
nazis

cheers Arend

To paraphrase Mr.Lemons in his argument to include Nazis: the point is that the Nazis seemed like an organization that would have done these types of archaeological and mythical research during that time (the 30s).

The Nazis were pretty much the enemy back in the 30s and that’s how they were portrayed in the film. I can’t really think of any other enemy to have.

Putting Nazis aside, consider it as an evil military organization seeking some mythological artifact that can be used as a weapon.

We don’t have to have the Nazi symbol everywhere, just one place to indicate who they are is good enough.

To quote Mr.Lemons again: It’s not the 3rd Reich that we want to portray, it’s the military.

Or you could do the good old cannibals, but those wouldn’t have to be the major villains.

I would like to animate a jungle scene. If we were to animate an opening scene what would it be like? It would be cool for the opening credits if our hero would swing on a vine then it would say “Hero” in a cool ORIGINAL logo.
