Hi guys, I’m new to brickfilming, and apologies in advance if this is in another topic but I couldn’t find it when I searched.
My question is about animating 2 minifigs having a conversation. There are loads of tutorials on walk cycles and backgrounds etc, but when I see other brickfilms with the closeup shots of minifigures in conversation, it often just seems like the arms/hands/legs just move/twiddle every now and then, and the minifigure rocks back and forth slightly, to keep the illusion of motion on the screen. Obviously I understand you synch this movement up to dialogue where possible, but it doesn’t always look possible. Also when shooting in 15fps, I can’t possibly work out how to do 15 frames, the movements are so small. Are people effectively shooting the small movements in 5fps and using ‘hold’ frames in their software eg monkeyjam to create periods of start/stop animation?
I can’t find any thread/forum about it so any information and any light anyone can shed on this would be most appreciated.

I personally prefer 15-24 fps…. one of the best conversation scenes I’ve seen utilised a software to sync the voice with the mouth movements.
