…how to get a video sorse for capture set up in Adobe After Effects? Like in SMA, where the view is direct from the camera and you can capture one fram at a time into your movie. If anybody could do this for me, I would be grateful.

After Effects doesn’t do that. At least, not in any version I’ve ever seen. You’ll need to use a separate app to do the captures and then assemble your movie in AE afterward.

Nope, not in any version, and most likely not in any future versions. AE is a graphics application, not an editing program (though I use it for editing also, until I get Vegas). Just use something like SMA or SMP, capture the frames as something like bitmaps, then import them as sequences. It saves you a step through Axogon or DDClip or whatever the program is. Just make sure you have the correct frame rate when importing (I think you go into Edit>Preferences>Import).

I think Premiere has a stop mation capturing thingy, but I also think it sucks.
