Alright beta testers, this one’s important. Hopefully on Friday or Saturday we’ll be putting up the new Elections system to help better organize and manage the whole elections process. For the time being the voting system isn’t done, but the nominations system (the important part for the time being) is up and running. Your mission, should you choose to accept it (which you do, I accepted it on your behalf) is to test out the system and the site to make sure that it’s up to spec and works smoothly. The site: http://www.brickfilms.com/elections.php No worries about nominating someone not on the beta team. They’re not set up to PM anyone or anything so you can put whoever you want for anything. Make sure to test to make sure the been-here-for-six-months-so-you-can-be-nominated-and-vote check works. Any suggestions are welcome, but realize they might not be added in time for release. -Schlaeps |

Double checking: All these nominations will be cleared before the real thing, right? Edit: I notice that apostrophes show up as question marks. I’m not sure what causes that, but I’ve seen it on other sites before. |

Yes, they’ll be cleared out, these don’t count as your official nominations. As far as the question marks, I told Jonathan earlier, it does that for me too. What browser are you using? |

I attempted to nominate the newest registered member (Nichartri), and I got a message stating that said member has not been a member 6 months yet, so that seems to be in order. I was able to nominate myself to Minister of Filming Resources. I also attempted to nominate a fake member “Derrick” but was met with another message telling me Derrick didn’t exist. In the suggested skills box for Minister of Filming Resources, “savvy” is misspelled “saavy” All my experiments were done in the latest version of Firefox. Looking awesome, so far, Schlaeps. Very sexy Web 2.0. |

Yeah, see it doesn’t do that in Safari…but it does it in firefox for me, too. I’m not sure about i.e. -Trill |

I would prefer that the text be black rather than gray. Is that just to differentiate between the test site and the live site? I found it hard to read after a while (and there is a lot of text). In IE the “Elections” page is blank – is there meant to be something there? Useless extra: for the positions at the bottom that are not up for election, do you consider it important to state why they are not up for election, or is it assumed that everyone already knows? I nominated myself for minister of Information, then tried to support krick. It initially allowed me but then an error message came up to contact Schlaeps. The message was “user already supporting”. So it’s all good there. Supporting an existing nominee works fine. Tried to crash it by entering “*/?#@” as a nominee – got message “*/?#@ does not exist” so it’s tolerant of exotic characters. The “name-finder” (black box that says ‘be more specific’ or ‘user does not exist’ works fine in IE. All my testing was done via IE on XP. Couldn’t find any bugs. |

Excellent! (And yes, the elections page is blank in all browsers because there’s no content) Does IE show the weird question marks where there should be apostrophes on the guidelines page? |

Rev said something along the lines of whatever they pay you, it isn’t enough. So very true, so very true. Awesome work, but if I could point one thing out, on the “Upcoming Events” timeline, the pop-up screen that gives details on the event pops up on the left side of the screen, far enough that I can’t see a portion of the left side of the box. Can you command that to pop up to the right or something? -MindGame |

Alright, I couldn’t figure out why it was showing those question marks when I did the smooth page changes, so for the time being I’ve temporarily disabled them. EDIT: Nevermind. |

I nominated Weirdears for MoD. The system seems to be working just fine. |

I went through supporting random people. Lechnology’s little dot turned green. Does this mean he’s on the ballot? |
