I am looking for a program either free, or under 200 dollars that I can get. I’m going to be making a lot of videos with gunflashes and explosions. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh and if it’s free, thats cool.

Easy to use would be nice but not necessary.

Effects Lab Pro. It’s 150 bucks.

Blender is a good 3d program (it’s free).
But, and this counts for any 3d program including maya, studio 3d autodesk, others…

You will have to learn to use it.
This will take some time to produce good results.

It definitely can do the stuff you ask.
Once saw a movie made with blender about an explosion of an atom bomb on blendernation.

(You can make gun flashes and explosions with it.)
The advanced particle effects are very helpful for these kind of tasks and a nice to have for other stuff too.

Export the frames and draw the effects in GIMP.

Yeah, GIMP is very good for both muzzle flash and lightsaber effects, but it can’t make explosions. The Adobe Premiere Elements (4,7,8,&9) can make explosions. I’m thinking about getting 9, it’s only 90 dollars. :)

As an upgrade, or is 90$ the full price for Premiere Elements 9?

Yes,the full price is that, except on the site it says that it’s 80 dollars but doesn’t mention shipping. While on Amazon, it’s 90 dollars or so with Free Super Savers Shipping, so I just went with Amazon.
