I think RevMen could get into a lot of trouble if he made such a thing up. For one thing, the LEGO legal people wouldn’t be happy with an impersonation such as this.

Now that I think about it, it’s probably not a good idea to have the letter up, whether authentic or fake. I’m going to take it down and I ask that anyone who saved a copy of it to either delete it or make sure to not distribute it. For now, anyway.

I’d be willing to participate in a letter to TLC.

Crap in a sack.
Either this has got to be the best April Fools Joke ever or (in the immortal words of Jarjar binks) weeza in big trouble.

As much as I would like to believe it is a joke, it is now April 2nd here.
April Fools jokes are not allowed to go past midday April 1st, and I am guessing its past that where Josh lives.

Despite what I may have written about the flaws in the letter, I am starting to believe that we may have a massive problem here.
Conspiracy theorists, (as that is what you will become in a few hours) quiet down and lets think logically.

I’ll sign a petition, if its the least I can do. This site keeps me sane [literally], so I still owe it a debt.

-Ladon I’m still a bit iffy…

It actually is still 8:35 AM Mountain Time, on April 1st, so Its not past that yet.

If the contest truly is a bust, then I think I will pull from the contest.

However, I will still make my film nonetheless. Though I really want this to happen.

PS: If there is a petition, I will be happy to help in any way.

Can’t we as in my first post. do the contest without prizes and dvd’s? Would it be allowed then?

Obviously the following is the best solution to this whole problem:

1) Let Blunty run the contest – that’s actually why he came to the US: Secret Mission.
2) Send all the prizes to me (Protowrxs) for holding – and use, and future ownership
3) Force TLC to pay us for director and advertising fees for all the movies we’ve made – Hey, we’re doing free advertising here you know
4) Fire Joshua Leasure for mismanagement of Brickfilms LLC
5) Change Brickfilms.com to BlockFilms.com (per dewfilms idea) and let MegaBlok take over as the main sponser.
6) Send me (protowrxs) all future prizes and revenues from BlockFilms.com sponsorships
EDIT: Under threat of legal action for Intellectual Property violations under item #5, I have added Dewfilms as a 50/50 split for item #6.
7) Have a nice day – and send me money.

I guess TLC would still consider this commercial, because they think the contest is like an advertising stunt for Brickfilms LLC. They cannot let a company do this because they don’t want it to be a precedent.

I would have liked to post what people call “adult violence” here, but then TLC would go and say we’re not child friendly. The only thing I will say is: “Damn it!”. Thanks.

Damn it!

You’re joking right?
I mean come on, face it: Rev just made a simple stupid little mistake, that’s all.

If so, then we’d get into trouble by Megabloks for holding Megabloks themed contests.

Should we get a lawyer? There are literally oodles of them lying around DC.

Too bad Cochran died. :(

I have already found some legal advice this morning. They think that a cordial, respectful letter from us to LEGO stating our case is a good first step.

What a shame.

I would have originally gone for Option 1 which is to go for a “clone brick” contest, but now I think Option 2 sounds like the best idea. I know I couldn’t scrounge up enough Mega-Blok etc. to make a quality entry in time; I just don’t have the cash. I can see why some would choose Option 1 to show Lego we can do without them or whatever, but I think if we want to maintain a good number of high quality entries, we’d go Option 2. Hopefully the new management of the contest could pull it off.

I would definitely sign a petition or help out with whatever plan you’ve got, Josh.

Tom

Edit: It sounds like I’m just echoing here. Ah well.
