MAY '08 – The Doctor for MINISTER OF DISCUSSION –UPDATED!!!

The Doctor	______________________________________________________________________________ Hello fellow Brickfilmers. I’ve been a member of these forums for well over a year now and noticing that a Minister of Discussion was needed, I’m now running of the ministry. I’ll start with my abilities which are suggested for this position on the elections page. Senior Member I’ve been a member for over a year, and (almost, as in, the regulars) everyone know me so, I think that qualifies as Senior. Leadership Experience Yes, I have Leadership exp obtained from various places in my life and I’m one of nine so it also kinda comes naturally. Good Communication Skills On numerous occasions I have been called upon for my communication skills, outside brickfilms.com of course, and I have always said to people when rejecting films to PM me with any questions. So I’m not afraid of a loaded inbox. Flexible To be any more flexible, I’d have to eat rubber every day…nvm. Yes I’m flexible and I welcome outside input. (outside, input ) How much time would I be able to spend performing my duties? Quite alot really, I’m home schooled and finish by midday so I have more than enough time to put towards the ministry. What are my ideas to expand or improve the Ministry? Nothing really needs to be changed, I like it the way it is and I know you all do to. My plans are more to improve rather than change (kinda the same thing, I know) The various “How to” threads we have seen, I would try and gather all these and work with the Minister of Truth to get them into the Wiki so we can have all your tutorials in one spot. And just basic cleaning up the place, cracking down on cyber-bullying is what needs the most attention in this area (not that much happens here anyway but it does happen). As MoD, I would have (and do now) zero tolerance towards cyber-bullying after a warning to the offender has been issued. Like I said, I’m flexible so if you can think of any problems in this area you would like to see dealt with, feel free to post here and I’ll come up with something. What unique character qualities would I be able to contribute to the Ministry? Patience, Honesty, Loyalty and Respect for my fellow brickfilmers, Noobs (if you’ll excuse the term) and Regulars alike. What is my motivation for running? I don’t want to see this community die, not “Go out with a bang” I don’t want it to go out at all. If you have any ideas/suggestions/doubtful points, please feel free to share them an I’ll get back to you. –The Doctor for Minister of Discussion, because I don’t want this place to die.

Stevie Collins	Before I submit a poll opinion vote, I’ll have to wait for other candidates. I think the “I’m leaving threads will go out the window” isn’t a good idea. The people need to tell us where they go. It is better than going without telling people. Otherwise, you seem like a quite a good candidate. With the “I’m leaving” threads I have stated that I would make an official thread so we don’t have them filling up the community forum. But if someone like Ahnt or a minister wanted to leave I would make an exception because their going would be important and everyone would need to know. I would make allowances for April fools day, because you’re right they are funny but threads like these have started in the past on more than one occasion and threads like these should not exist outside of April fools day.

ahnt	What do you mean with “clean up”? And btw, would you be willing to do the following: We have had so many cool thread about how to do stuff, would you pool them, or summarize and cooperate with the Minister of Wiki (or however he/she is called) and transform some of them into wiki material? So thats my slogan even though thats not the only thing I’ll be doing, I thought it sounded good. And yes, I’ll add your suggestion to the list.

Timothy Ratner	I thought the Minister of Discussion thinks double/triple/etc. posting is a no-no… Not sure if I should vote for you or Ænema, oh who to choose… A quick note, I think the MoD should have well grammar and know how to spell well; so work on that. What is your thought on overuse of emoticons? Weird question, I know…

Ænema	Vice Minister, eh? An interesting concept. What would the role of the Vice MoD be? Do you think you couldn’t handle the position of power by yourself? The way I see it, there should be one MoD as the powerhead, and other moderators to take on minor roles. I believe this is the way it’s always been. Having a Minister of Discussion AND a Vice Minister seems like overkill to me.

As for my grammar and spelling, I’m trying to answer everything as fast as I can and the spell checker in Firefox tends to stuff things up a bit. Stevie is already a moderating experience and having a vice would come in handy because I (we) can’t go though every thread. Also, some mods have abused their power in the past so I don’t really want to rely fully on them the that area.

badgerboy	Having a Vice minister for something like MoD makes it seem like you aren’t ready for the job, which I do not think you are. I’m also curious to see what this vice-minister would do. Also, not pointing out a problem because you aren’t prepared to be part of a solution seems bad to me. There’s obviously several problems around here at the time. Several people have pointed out these problems, but aren’t actively part of the solution. If they never pointed these problems out, things would be going from bad to worse. EDIT: I prefer “informative edits” myself.
