The idea behind the NeXT ‘party’ is to continue the great success that is Brickfilms.com today as well as always look ahead toward the next great thing. We realize that Brickfilms is and always has been a community and as such, should stay that way. Like the WWRD Party, we know that this change in Brickfilms’ structure is not bring “democracy” into this community but rather to ease RevMen of some of his many duties in running this site. Unlike The WWRD Party though, we do not wish to be trapped by dogma – which is following the opinions and beliefs of others. As said previously, we wish to continue to promote Brickiflms’ current success as well as continue to work on ways to bring new viewers, members, hobbyists, and potential profit into our community. Our party has already proven it’s dedication to bringing growth into Brickfilms when we introduced the highly popular and successful Brickfilms Podcast just 11 months ago. In fact, it was so popular from the start that we were forced to give it it’s own domain and hosting just to fulfill the demand. This is just the beginning and not the extent of our plans. In the future, revamps as well as bigger and better updates to the site are things we would like to implement and are currently working on. Better patron features, etc. As for the forums, we believe that it should be left open and free as it has been since the beginning, yet work toward better action against obvious SPAM topics by locking and removing them swiftly rather than let them continue pollute the site which is currently the philosophy of some moderators. We currently are not running in any of the two elections but are definitely open if any Candidates or future NeXT member would like to do so. If you wish to become a spokesperson/evangelize for NeXT please post here. If I may pose a question: How does your party intend to adress the need for increased funding in order to cover the costs that will be incurred as brickfilms.com (and it’s affiliated sites, such as the podcast site) become more popular and greater hosting and bandwidth requirements arise? And could you provide a sample of what your intended anti-spam policy could be? |

Ha ha, I actually used NeXT computers my first year in college. I hope your party runs smoother than those junkers… |

In the future we’d like to work on bringing in more advertising revenue as well as a revamp of the Patrons section to provoke more donations. Most definitely, the Brickfilms Store (Merch) would be cleaned up and re-opened to initiate new income which will allow us to continue to host the site as well as expand Brickfilms into new places.
Could you expound on this please?[/quote]
The Brickfilms forums have always been open in that they’re not policed with dozens of overly-strict rules that would otherwise diminish the experience. To even further openness, Brickfilms introduced a “Lively Discussion Forum” for us to openly discuss topics that might be a bit too much for community forums. We believe this is the right direction to go and would like to stay on that path. As for an anti-spam policy, Brickfilms has been fortunate enough not to get the number of troll members/spam ‘bots’ that can bee seen on other forums of this size. As good as that may be, I would like to see better control over how SPAM is quickly controlled and removed from the forums. Some of our moderators, Z for instance, are very good at addressing SPAM issues. Other, whom I will not name, seem to think it best to let the topic die out itself while allowing members to continue to post messages and images stating that the SPAM is in-fact…SPAM. Unfortunately that does nothing more than to create more SPAM and waste forum bandwidth ($$). Language in the forums is an occasional issue and due to the small amount of occurrences I believe our current system of handling it is satisfactory (censoring the offending word(s) and warning the member).
Wonderful! Welcome Schlockading. Pierre Films |

What is your plan and/or view on the current FAQ situation, as it appears that some members feel there is a need for change in this area? (would you put a question mark after that sentence?) |

The FAQ has been a great resource for many years and I thank mrgraff for that. Unfortunately today it is quite outdated and both the Resources and Brickfilms Wiki now offer much more information. I’d like to either do a complete revamp of the FAQ and/or find a way to integrate it into the Resources/Wiki in a very user-friendly “Welcome to Brickfilms: Lets get started!” sort of way. No Apple logos. With advertising, I’d like to get more animation software developers on board as this site would be a great source of advertising for them as well as a bit of revenue for us. As far as patrons go, we do not like to discuss unannounced products/features. Loose lips sink ships. Pierre Films |

As FAQ moderator, I am enthusiastic about getting the FAQ back in shape. I am pleased that one party has recognized this important need and is willing to speak out publicly. Please add me to the NeXT roster. |
