My choice of words “not necessarily” implies that it may be the views of a member of the party or it may not.
:P
|

With the upcoming elections in late January, I would like to offer myself as the candidate for the Minister of Film Ratings (if this party will be running in that election). I feel that the current film rating process is often hindered by unfair ratings, etc. I would make sure to revamp the system so that older films that were accepted into the directory when standards are lower to receive lower ratings, while newer films that were accepted under higher standards to receive slightly higher ratings. Additionally, there should be a set system for what a certain rating number means, instead of simply having each rater assume, in his own opinion, what each rating is equal to in terms of the qualifications for that rating. The NeXT party will dominate! |

I’d also like to be a candidate for the Minister of Film Ratings. We shouldn’t be trying to fix past mistakes in ratings, but ensuring that in the future we don’t vary as much in our judgement. Through an assessment rubric ratings system, it will be easy for reviewers and raters to understand what each level of rating means. And through understanding there will be agreement. This way, there will be less debacle and uncertainty over questionable ratings, and more realisation by the director of what exactly they need to improve upon. Remember, the ratings aren’t only to order a film from best to worst, they should help the director improve upon their work with every accepted submission. |

Could you elaborate a bit on this? I agree that we shouldn’t attempt to go back and “fix” old ratings to reflect current standards, as that’s simply not feasible, but I’d like to get an idea of what you’d plan to do. Right now I can only picture a pretty complicated system, and I’m sure you’d agree that we need to keep it relatively simple and easy to understand. It might be better to make a separate topic to discuss your ideas, if you are planning to go into detail. Cometgreen |

Yeah, I plan on going into detail. I’m working on a sample of the rubric I mentioned, which will actually make rating much easier, and will help reviewers find things to write about in their reviews, so they won’t feel the need to stop after a couple of sentences. |

Our party should have only one candidate for Minister of Film Ratings so we need to work this out. If either of you need help with anything let me know! Welcome aboard 1ceaham and Monko! |
