Rev, did you want any ideas shared in this thread or just ‘complete’ outlines sent to your email?
Outlines please, as I asked in the beginning.
Not impossible, but still a challenge.
Maybe we just need to appoint a Dictator to rule with an iron fist and punish slow animators / voice actors?
That would be me. That’s the reason I’m taking greater control over this project than I had on the last one. (Admittedly I was one of the slow ones at one point.)
Whether or not to do facial animation totally depends on whether we can get good face animators in on the project. It’s a very real possibility. I think it would be completely awesome to have animated, singing minifig faces.September 6, 2006 at 12:02 am #222717
Sorry, but I’m just not real wild about the idea of a musical. I just don’t really like them, that’s all. When I hear music in a film, I don’t want people’s voices to get in the way. Who knows, maybe it could turn out all right, but as a general rule, I’m just not a big fan of musicals. I think we would really need to find out if there are any good voice actors that can sing good as well, and we would need a really good composer. And, obviously, it would need a good story. Like I said, maybe it would work, but I’m just not too keen on this myself.September 6, 2006 at 1:03 am #222735
Ever sence Corpse Bride I have just really wanted to animate a musical number, I would hate for the animation to be limeted to a stage though, or just be a string of unconnected songs, I hate those ideasSeptember 6, 2006 at 10:54 am #222782
My idea could be turned into a musical but I wouldn’t want it to be a musical just because it’s there to do.
And if it was a musical it would be to close to where I got the idea. If you know what I mean. :wink . I don’t think we should do a musical for the sake of a musical.September 6, 2006 at 7:01 pm #222851

I agree. There’s no reason, however, why it would have to be limited to the stage. You could easily have someone walking through a forest or jumping off the edge of a building while singing. Just look online at some music videos if u don’t know what i mean.September 6, 2006 at 7:05 pm #222852

i think the idea of songs in a movie would be great to see. i don’t actually like musicals, but i’d love to make one. its like needing a wee and being thirsty at the same time.
i loved the caretaker movie though: top notch.

I suppose it could also be like a music video film. Everyone makes a music video and the best 10 (just my idea) get used and then someone judges the best one and animates a minifig anouncing the winner.September 6, 2006 at 9:42 pm #222911
Ah yes, a really good composer. Enter Schlockading. Or John Williams. That would be really cool to write a musical, and it would look good on whatever resumé I might eventually have. I say that if we’re going to do a musical, we should have composer auditions and let the Brickfilming community as a whole judge whose music is the best. Then again, the music-writing could be a cooperative agreement, with different people writing different songs. This is a “community” project after all. Actually, that would work quite nicely, since there aren’t really THAT many composers on the forum – just The Duke and I as far as I know. However, writing just a regular score for a non-musical movie would be great also. But then, probably only one person could do that. In conclusion, I must say that I like the idea of a musical with different composers writing different parts. That would be excellent and would give everyone a chance to contribute.September 7, 2006 at 12:07 am #222944
different people writing different songs
That’s the way we did the last one, that’s how we’d do this one. There are a lot more music-makers than you’re realizing. Check out a Cover This Song Contest thread lately?September 7, 2006 at 7:16 am #223040
Musicals are like martial arts films, you either love ‘em or hate ‘em. There’s no middle ground.
I think a musical brickfilm would be – at the very least – a unique idea. Can’t say enthraled by the idea, though.
