Hello everyone who can see this forum! I am greatly honored to be here, and I hope I can make a difference with the help of the brickfilms.com Staff. Obviously I was elected because the two previous curators seemed to have stopped coming as much, and we need get some forum members motivation to use this sound library. I thought I would let you all know that in the Forum I am allowed to moderate I have already locked on topic and I have stickied another. I stickied the CTSC until its deadline is over, and I have locked a thread that had “Let us attack the n00b” all over it. If I am in the wrong please tell me. On to the real subject. If I am not mistaking the first issue is to get the sound library upload system working. Stefan, if I am correct, told me that it is broken. So, I cannot do anything until it is fixed. As soon as it is here are my plans:
Part one is just going to motivating people to use the sound library and just “Buffing” it up a bit, this going to require some thinking. I want to make it look ‘Cool’ to be a person who makes sounds. Also, I am working on browsing the unofficial user sound libraries and obtaining the files so that they can be added to the official library. Lastly, when can I expect to start adding more sounds? when will I get the ftp info and such? this is no rush by any means. Also, should I start working on my PHP? I’ve been meaning to brush up on it anyway but if I can use it hear to help out with some minor tasks I’ll learn some more. -Christopher |

Hi, Christopher, 1) Your main duties in the Music and Sound Effects forum are announcing sound library features, NOT to play moderator. The forum should, generally, be used in much the same way as the Animation & Special Effects forum. 2) The FTP info is in the sound manual, at the bottom of your control panel. 3) I’ll look into the problems now, and am positive that I can solve the problems tonight. Stefan. |

I am sorry for this one incident, I will not let this happen again. I was asking comet about this and he said it was fine, but I promise not to lock anything else. Thank you for replying. Once again this won’t happen again. |

Ah, I didn’t know you discussed it with Comet. Still, I wouldn’t have locked that topic. I didn’t get the MP3 tags to work yet, sorry. Uploads and conversion should work. Could someone check the tags on the .flac and .ogg versions of Top/Sounds/Machines/Automobiles/Motorcycle (by Mindgame, top right)? Stefan. |

They all have their tags, and they all play fine. Is that what you mean by check? |

Is the sound system still fixed? If so I’ll get to work. |

No. Id3 tags still don’t work. It’s not extremely grave, but it’s the icing on the cake, and would make sure that the files themselves carry licensing information. Stefan. |

oh the ID3 Tags, I thought you meant the extensions for some reason. Sorry for the confusion. |

I’ve had an idea, and I really would like to do this. We have several people here who have won contests (and got a decent mic as a prize) and that are just good at sound in general. I want to make a team of Sound Designers that will help fill the needs of the Brickfilmers. All that this would require is a hidden group that I could add people to, a title, and if this idea gets too big possibly a hidden forum. We would discuss what sounds should be added to the library and how to get them, we would start adding quality sounds that everyone could use. Eventually we could even have a suggestion form. I don’t plan to make a public thread until the team is actually created. I want to PM people I think are good at sound rather then having to let a bunch of people down for no reason. I could start rounding people up now, or as soon as I get the OK. |

I believe the sound system is operational now. Good luck uploading! Notify me if anything weird happens. I will probably check back on friday. And I love the idea of a task force. Would be willing to participate too. Creating sound effects is fun! Stefan. |

OK, revmen has made a comment in the thread. I want you all to know that even though I like his idea I am not going 100% with it. I am going to attempt to make a perfect marriage between my idea and his. I think you all will be please with the results. Thank you all for your work! |

BUMP. I have been super busy lately, and very naughty for not attending my duties. Not that anything has been going on anyway. My Sound Design team is VERY small and nothing is happening , so I am kinda upset. At this point I am quite ready to disband the group, remove the forum, and then move on to the next step. My main focus is getting everyone to pay more attention to the sound effects and make more contributions but I may need more than just a thread. Renovations Part one is pretty much done. I had based this information off of what people told me, so not all of it was as accurate as I wanted it. Example, it doesn’t need to be made more secure as we aren’t going to use a new sound upload system anytime soon. The navigational bar can wait, and I haven’t even asked RevMen yet. The sound Reviewers have no point until I get sounds for them to review. So, I really accomplished what I wanted for part one: I got everyone’s interest back. Even if just a little. Now for part two. I sincerely hope everyone is ready to hold their hats, because part one was the easy part; Part two, however, is not as much so. Chris |
