Hey all – I was looking through my site log and noticed a few refers coming from brickfilms a few weeks ago, and so decided to check it out.
I didn’t even realize that this site had an active forum. I’ve been a big fan of Brickfilms for quite a while – I have most of them saved to my hard drive in a special little folder.
Glad to see some of you enjoyed my movies. I am definitely not a 3D animator – all of the movies on my web site (secretagentbob.com) are done in my spare time for fun. What I really do is direct independent films, none of which I can upload to secretagentbob.com for copyright reasons. Of course, my own little projects are a lot more fun to produce, which is why I do them.
The Secret Agent Bob movie is one that I had wanted to do for a while – Secret Agent Bob was actually the name given to a Lego man of a friend of mine, which is where the Bob thing originated. All of my original movies are lego movies, which is why I enjoy Brickfilms so much – something about stop-frame legos has always fascinated me for one reason or another.
Anywho, I noticed a few complaints about my site, specifically about it not being media-friendly.
As far as movie downloads – I will be fixing this. I am on a Mac with QuickTime pro, so I have always been able to just click on the movie from internet explorer and choose “download” – it completely slipped my mind that others simply couldn’t do this. Also, all of my movies are soon going to be available in smaller MPEG format, which should help with the file size and compatibility problems people seem to have.
If you go to my site, be sure to check out the following:
The Gourd movies (very cheesy, but good fun)
Eraser Man Wars (the only stop-frame movie I have on the site)
PSA Awards Video (some decent special effects)
And any others that you think might be interesting.
I’ll try and find my old Lego movies to add to Brickfilms.June 10, 2003 at 9:23 pm #4789

but if you can’t model, it’ll look like crap.
Learning modeling is not hard, just find out some tutorials on the net, wastw two months of you life and you know how to model. Whenever you know how, you decide to quit with this all because it take’s way to much time.
I’m currently working on a project called “Wonder Woman”. The whole model is being modeled from one “Face” and it contains now more than 300, (without mesh smoothing and not counting the mirrored instance clone)
I only need to lock carefully on the tutor while I’m creating my “wonder woman”
Talent, you need talent but not on working with the software, but just to look at the things around you and take it up in you mind or paper and express your self in a 3 dimensional world.
So it’s a combination of acknowladge and talent.June 10, 2003 at 4:35 pm #4771
you think this took talent?????
it takes an equal mixture of BOTH
(to: SOTW : i used to manually have to clean the caches on my pc……)
and by the way……it makes imprints of EVERYTHING you do on the net….
it even keeps imprints of orderforms and other incrypted things……
to remedy this you can :
press ctrl H.
on the scroll list to the left.
you first click advanced…….
then click the drop down list CACHE
then if you look to the right youll see two
clear mem cache…
clear disk cache…
and there you go you can now clear your system cache which will enable it to run faster….
and allow for other faster things…….
to do it in explorer i would have to explain a whole lot of different things but ill do it some other time…….June 10, 2003 at 4:30 pm #4770

if you do a search on your pc
you select search by date
and then type that days date in BOTH fields…….
select sort files by type…..
look under mpg/mpeg…..
and there you go…..
the thing that a movie site doesnt want you to know…..
like the server thing it leaves an IMPRINT on you hard drive until you manually clear the cach…..
and that takes way to long to explain so…….
there now you know how to do it……….. 😎June 10, 2003 at 6:11 am #4754
No, you need talent to make the graphics look good, and not just quality wise. You can have the best textures at your disposal, but if you can’t model, it’ll look like crap. Similarily, you can have the best models at your disposal, but if you can’t texture it, it’ll look like crap.
Anyway, spoilers ahead.
I don’t know why this is posted on Brickfilms, but I’ll review it anyway. It was pretty good. The animation could have been touched up on, but as said earlier, the graphics were good. They did indeed look like computer game graphics. The faces were modeled quite well. It’s just in the animation of the running and fighting that needed work.
The story was all right. Kinda funny, but not hilarious. Some of the stuff has been done before, but it at least provided a different take on them.
