As far as having people PM you with news, they do that already. I don’t know that inviting people to overload your PM box is necessarily the best idea.
I would clear once a week, so it doesn’t overload, and so I know I’m not posting last week’s news.
Then you have frustration when someone PMs you something and it doesn’t get posted. How would you handle that?
I would make sure everyone understands that I am going to be using only the news that benefit our community the most. If someone does throw a fit, I will get in contact with them, and calmly explain why their news wasn’t used. I would work through any problems people have, by being reasonable.
It’s foolhearty to leave it to one person’s discretion to pick and choose between user-submitted material. That’s why we have an MoI, one person elected by the community to be trusted to find the most noteworthy news, and post it.
That would still be what I would be doing. I would still look through news myself, I would just be adding an option, for people who see news I haven’t posted to inform me about it.
I really am just changing 2 things. I add the option of getting more news from the people, which changes the amount of news we get. I’m just tired of once a month updates. I want to see more news, that people wouldn’t normally see.
Thanks for being kind about this stuff guys. I can see that many people disagree with my ideas, which is fine. It’s up to you to decide who is best for the job.

I don’t really think it’s disagreement with ideas. Just confusion because your ideas are pretty much already in place.
People can, and do PM you with suggestions when you’re MoI. That’s nothing new, it’s already an option. It always was.
As far as seeing more news, that’s great – just remember not to overwhelm people!
I like to see someone who listens and responds in-kind to a member’s concerns. Just remember not to be too attached to your stance. Politicians have to be flexible, and open-minded.

NO! THEY NEVE- er, um…
Really though, thanks for the advise Trill. I doubt that I will even get into the race though . Along the lines of what Trill just said, does anyone have ideas for what they would like to see in this position?June 11, 2007 at 2:58 pm #294587

So? Most first-time candidates don’t make it, don’t let that discourage you. Consider this a trial run, learn from it! By next elections, you’ll know just what to do – and just what the people want!
Good Luck!June 11, 2007 at 8:01 pm #294705
I say once again, what do you guys think the news page should have, or be like? I am here to get what you want.June 16, 2007 at 2:02 am #295814
But I never actually had any, and I don’t believe KG ever appoited deputies.
I had thought that I was a deputy of the Minister of Information, both during your term and KG’s.
Good luck on your campaign, Squash.June 16, 2007 at 2:03 am #295815
Thanks Dragoon.June 29, 2007 at 7:49 pm #300596
I would like to thank everyone who supported me, asked me questions, and gave me advise. Thank you all. I think I may try again next year, with my new knowledge.

I’m disappointed you didn’t make it to the final election, Squash. I would have voted for you.
