You can use any of my films. If you decide to, please let me know which one. I’ll then upload a high-quality file.

Please, also feel free to drop the names of your favourite films on the board – even if they’re not your own. I try to to go through the whole archive but it’s hard and it takes TIME. So if you have any favs, tell me.

I will probably say “yes”, but before I do, I want to know a bit more about the commercial aspect. I suspect people will have to pay to get in. How much? I want my films to be seen, and I understand that some cost needs to be recovered, but I don’t want people to be ripped off for something they could also watch for free.

A very good question.

We will not charge a lot. I don’t know how much but my guess is maybe 5 dollars, no more. It’s to cover any cost of buying coffee, renting stuff that we might not own ourselves etc. Not to make profit. Also, I find people generally think it’s weird and suspicious if something like this is free. It’s like they feel something that’s good…can’t be entirely free of charge. And that’s sort of true, too.

I realize any person could log onto, for example, this board and watch the films for free and anytime they want, but that would be lesser quality versions and, more importantly, the people I want to reach are the ones who don’t spend hours online and certainly don’t have accounts on forums. I feel it’s a problem that so much art is consumed only by a very closed and small community of people, most of whom are into brickfilming (or whatever) themselves. I want to bring this to “the people” – my parents, friends, dudes on the street, anyone. That’s sort of the point. Also, we’re gonna have a couple of computers and cams set up with little lego sets where people can try out brickfilming. That way, perhaps this board can get a few more members in the future. :)

Also, I think the mere fact that we’re showing the films in a real theatre (if a small one) is a recognition of sorts, of the greatness and seriousness of brickfilms.

Haven’t visited this thread in awhile now. The festival’s still alive and well though. I’m currently sorting out some censorship issues and handling the booking of the theatre. The date is set to October 6th.

Things are going fine with the preparations for the festival but one thing…or one problem, rather, remains. It seems no one is responding to the messages (both PM and email when email was an option) I sent out asking about the films I liked and if I could perhaps show them at my festival. If you people have gotten such a message, I would really, really appreciate it if you’d answer and at least tell me if you DON’T want your film on the festival. That way I know and I can move on. As it is now, almost everyone seems to be ignoring me. Why is this? Gone on summer holiday for months? People in here just don’t like me as a person? :?:

You can use any of my films if you want. I have high quality DVDs of Mission Space 2 and Writer’s Block, but the DVD files are something like 50MBs per minute so that would be kind of hard to sent over the internet.
