I can’t encode in either of those formats. Perhaps you could add 3MB per minute .mov files to the list?

Thats sounds reasonable, virtually everyone around here can play .movs.[/quote]
Why is there even a limit? If you use VLC you can play almost anything exept real.

I would be using a .mov shell with either MPEG-4 or H.264 compression.

I suspect that QuickTime would still play an MPEG-4 file even if it were merely renamed with the MOV extension (perhaps someone with QT could verify this by playing this video). I know that it works on my machine. If such is the case, I see little point in precluding submissions with the MPG extension.

Saulgoode, I could only get your clip to play when I changed the extension back to MPG. My installation of QuickTime wouldn’t even attempt to play it while still as MOV.

Is copyright rule in effect?

Considering that 24 hours is barely enough to make your own music or other stuff (unless you have made them before), no, the copyright rule is not in effect.

I was thinking it wouldn’t be, just making sure.

Wait, so we can use any music? That’s not right! I thought everything had to be original!

“THAC Rule #7″ wrote: While copyrighted/trademarked properties are allowed, you are discouraged from basing your movie off of preexisting films (Star Wars, The Matrix, etc.). Its not original, and could and could lower your score in the story area. Copyrighted music may be used, due to the time constraints for this contest, but if you do not wish to do so, you ARE permitted to create original music beforehand. Music does not have to be created within the 24 hour time limit.
