Exactly. I sort of wish that we were limited to adapting a scene out of a book as was the original intention because this would set entries apart from regular trailers. Also an extract from a book would take a lot less time to make than a proper trailer, in which one can usually only use each set in a few shots.

I’m just going to do a scene, since I’ll need all the time I can get after I finish The Raven.

I think I’m going to do the first chapter of Black by Tedd Dekker. Then maybe later on add a few more chapters. I just wish I had some bats. Oh, I just discovered that it’s going to take 2 more weeks before the laptop gets here :|

    ooooh well…

Relyt – if you are doing the Raven, why not (pardon the pun) kill two birds with one stone and have ‘Edgar Allan Poes The Raven’ as your Book to Bricks entry film ?

Well, there is a loophole. The raven is from a book.

Complete Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Isn’t that what I just said

I didn’t know that “The Raven” was sold as a book just for itself until just now. I didn’t think they could make a 51 page book out of the poem. It must have pictures in it or something.

So, why don’t you just submit the raven as the entry for books to bricks? It’s a form of literature…

“Aled Owen” wrote: It can be a trailer, but it HAS to be from a book.

Of course this is Aled’s call, but I think allowing not only extracts from books but any form of literature would make this into a very different contest. I want to see a Raven brickfilm as much as anybody but it’s not a book, it’s a poem. Whereas a brickfilm adaptation of The Raven would be a complete story, a single scene from a book is not so I imagine this would create a dilemma in the judging process. (Which is better? The car chase from The Bourne Supremacy, or Pixar’s short film Geri’s Game?)

Yeah, you have a point there. But a poem should be considered from a book, right?
