This is the thread where we discuss the theme of this year’s animation competition. The theme of BrickFest ’06 is “Show Biz,” so the animation theme needs to somehow be compatible with that. Ideas? |

So, exactly what part of show biz are we trying to portray? Show biz is a pretty general term. See ya, |

That’s the question, isn’t it? My first thought is something like “The Entertainers.” The idea would be to tell a story about someone or something whose life is to entertain others. The connections to show business are obvious, but I think a lot of other paths could be taken. |

How about the main character has to be an entertainer? He or she can be any type of entertainer (opera singer, vaudeville comedian, travelling minstrel). The plot could still be anything (mystery, action, adventure, drama) and it would not be overly restrictive. |

That’s actually a really cool idea. I would love to have a bunch of musicals. But I think it would just be too hard for everyone to come up with enough music to make their films with. |

Maybe people can provide music! Lot of musicians here. Or maybe vaudeville entertainment. Or some stage production. Although, no burlesque shows…that may not be taken very well. |

when i frist read “Show Biz” the first thing that poped into my mind was that song “there’s no business like show business”. the second thing was the E! Red Carpet Shows… |

I think Rev’s/saul’s suggestion is the best so far. It’s general enough for a lot of diversity. Cometgreen |

When I think “The Entertainer”, I think “The Sting”. Could be a big con type film. |

I dunno but as musical seems very challenging as no copyrighted marelrial will be allowed so you will most likeyly have to write the musical yourself (wich of course is a challenge in itself nd most musicals feature singing). Unless of course you have an orchestra and some sort of barber shop…. I like the idea of a mystery contest but I’ve noticed that they are running one all ready on coolbrick movies, but it would create an oppurtunity for creativity, camera angles and other effects plus it can be fitted to almost any genre (action, adventure, comedy etc.) -Little Studios |
