The reporter tells me the WSJ has a readership of 2 million people. I expect a lot of people to be coming to the site tomorrow. This may mean problems for the server. Unfortunately I’ll be gone all day tomorrow. I just found out about the WSJ article a few hours ago, long after I made my Saturday plans. I hope that some of you can check the site frequently to make sure it’s still running. Don’t be afraid to restart the server or repair the database if you need to. |

I would love to not be afraid of restarting the server if I knew how to do it. I’ll happily check on it and repair the databases though. |

The easiest way to restart the server is to SSH in as root and type “reboot” on the command line. Alternately, you can go into WHM as root and use the “graceful reboot” option. This is actually preferable but if the server is being very slow this can be hard to do. And finally, if you get no response at all, you can use the hard reboot console. If it has been repaired! The failure of this console is what caused the downtime a few weeks ago. I believe I put instructions in another thread, so you’ll want to find those and copy them down. |

Alright, well. I’m glad we survived and I didn’t need to do that. At least I know now! |
