Perhaps the new page could have a section devoted to tutorials that are written and submitted by fellow brickfilmers. These could contain images and text, using steps for the longer ones. People could then rate the tutorials, I guess by just voting for them.
I think this would be very helpful and would help to collect everyone’s good special effect ideas in one place.
Just a suggestion.

There are already a few on the Resources page:

who is to decide what is important and what is not????
if a person came to see if we had a tutorial on how to make it look like a lego fig is flying and everybody else thinks it’s mediocre material(big words now)
and every one who knows how to rates it bad……then that person looking to learn has missed an opportunity to learnJune 15, 2003 at 3:27 am #5301

I agree that tutorials are a good idea and that a central repository for them would be very helpful, but I don’t agree with rating them. I’m sure some will be better than others but I’d leave it to RevMen to decide which he’d like on the site (if not all of them, for variety).
zirkusaffe took the words right out of my mouth. (Not in a bad way. In other words, I can’t find any other way to say my opinion on this other than to quote him.)
I would love to have tutorials, and would greatly benifit from them. I would think that it would help everyone else, too.July 6, 2003 at 2:21 pm #7360
Well, yours truly has been put in charge of the new resources section.
There will defidently be tutorials, and an oppourtunity for anyone to submit new ones, or just ideas for tutorials that they’d like to see.
there will be not “rating” system, that seems very counter productive. instead I will be making the call as to weather any particular item lives up the the standards required to be part of the “official” brickfilms site.
Hopefully, now with a dedicated “resources section guy” the resources section will become a much more important part of the site (as opposed to the sadly forgotten and abandoned condition it’s currently in.)
Between what I hope to accomplish with the resources section, and MrGraff’s wonderful FAQ newbies and vets alike should never be short of that “vital info” right at their fingertips 😉July 7, 2003 at 3:25 pm #7444
