Please be a little more specific here:

The podcast is the apple thing on iTunes,
the youtube chanel is on youtube,

what is the “Brickfilmspodcast chanel” As far as I understand that is the youtube chanel?

There is actually a channel on youtube – ‘BrickFilmsPodcast’.

A question on the directory setup:

When a film is uploaded, what would happen to it before a review panel member watches it and approves/rejects it from the directory? Is it stored somewhere on the site? Is it hosted on the YT channel but not made public?

Every video uploaded is sent directly to youtube and made private. Once a video is approved, it is simply made public and some “special” stuff happens over here in the database. If it is completely rejected, it can be deleted – that will delete it from the directory here as well as from youtube. Note that this is only applicable for movies uploaded via our site – not videos that we are just given a link to. If we are just giving a link, activating/deactivating/deleting is all done on our end only – we have no ability to delete someone elses video!

a little 0 in the active column turns to 1?

Even so, it’s good they’re not just instantly accepted, because there are some idiots who would just spam that up.

The films in the account were included under the good faith of brickfilmers who trusted the people managing the podcast at the time. They didn’t give all rights to the films to Brickfilms.com and this should be respected. Including these videos as they are currently, without permission of the content creators and the creators of the podcast, is dishonest and it really isn’t acceptable even if the “brickfilmspodcast” YouTube account belongs to Brickfilms.com on grounds of trademark.

right !

I think i was speaking LOUD and CLEAR months ago, when i posted, that i want our Film “GEFUNDEN / FOUND” be delited out of the official brickfilms.com podcast. Sadly nothing happended and my eyes have to see now that is featured in the poorly-made “new” Film-Directory of a BF3.0-Mass-Template, connected to a stupid youtube-upload-BF-Channel-System. This makes me  and  at the same time.

stephenl, i guess you are just doing your job, like your BOSS is telling you – and you sound like a nice guy (not only because you have nearly the same name like me) – but please tell your BOSS(es):

There is absolutely NO permission by us that brickfilms.com uses our Brickfilm “GEFUNDEN” for the BrickFilmsPodcast Youtube-Channel.

I want it to be out of this Site from the so called “Films”-Page and i want it instantly deleted from the BF-Podcast Youtube Channel.

it can be deleted – that will delete it from the directory here as well as from youtube.

then do so ! either if the BF-PC-YT-Channel was sold to “whoeverthissiteownsnow” or not – the content does NOT belong to BF.com

:what?:

Hey Steffan,

Not a problem – I got the clear from the boss to remove movies on request. Would you be interested in resubmitting under your own link? Just curious as they wouldn’t be under our channel or control – they’d “belong” to you (in regards to youtube user ownership). Note that maybe tomorrow or so every user of the system should be able to moderate their own films, so they could remove/edit them at will. I’d certainly like to see this site back to its former glory by having lots of awesome content :D

@Weasley
Actually it does a little more then just flipping a switch – YouTube gives us a lot of information about the film which is also pulled and stored – we’ll use that later to help with making the directory more complete. Good guess though!

Hi,

Youtube clearly states that copyright must be honored. Brickfilms can’t upload content to youtube that doesn’t belong to them.

And I totally respect that. I personally don’t want my films on youtube. Not because of copyright, but I hate the youtube quality. Still I have a question to Stephen:
Only new films are supposed to be uploaded to youtube, or are you uploading every film we have links for?

And I tried to delete golegos film from the current directory, which I couldn’t… And I have about three to five simmilar requests.

Again:
Are old films automatically uploaded to youtube or only new ones?

Cheers Arend

For folks who want to their videos removed from the “podcast” and haven’t had their requests honored, it’s pretty easy to get YouTube to remove it for you. Just send this to copyright@youtube.com for your videos:

1. The copyrighted work at issue is the YouTube video titled ‘[video title]‘ which was produced by me, [Your full name here.]

2. [url of the video that needs to be removed]

3. To contact me, email me at [your email address]

4. I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted materials
described above on the allegedly infringing web pages is not
authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

5. I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the
notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am
authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is
allegedly infringed.

6. I have attached a copy of my physical signature via a jpg image. (Include a .jpg scan of your physical signature with the email)

This should get the video(s) removed within a few days’ time.

Or you could just ask.

@ahnt
I’m not uploading every video that was in the old database – though I’d like to contact the owners and ask about that. Forward me over the list of videos that need to be removed and I’ll take care of them – the code on the mod side isn’t 100% yet (still needs pagination, and a couple other things).

Regarding the quality part, I know there is a ‘hi res’ option available, and I was aproached with a request about another video site that I am seriously considering implementing – you’d just paste in the link and we’d include what we could in the directory (but not the channel). The chanell is only for people who WANT to be part of the channel. Otherwise you can just give us a link to put you in the on-site directory. Hope that clears things up.

Again I want to say I respect you, I know you’re doing your job and you’ve basically been dropped into the Brickfilms “soap opera” without prior knowledge. Nevertheless,

“Smeagol” wrote: With all due respect, the last time people requested to the owner that their films be removed from the site, editing on the directory was locked so they couldn’t remove their films. So while the owner would probably be the right person to address, you have to understand that many people are going to be reluctant to ask her about this kind of thing.

And I would also point out that despite your statement that you “got the clear from the boss to remove movies on request,” you have not yet removed Go!Le Go!’s video given his repeated plea, (edit: at the original time of writing, it does appear to be removed now) which was originally expressed some time ago (before your arrival here). The truth is, we have asked and this hasn’t produced results. The ownership of this site has vigorously enforced their trademark on other people and yet, thus far, they have refused to respect the copyright of content creators. I hope you can understand why this is frustrating to all of us.

So we are all on the same page here:

New movies will be uploaded to youtube and this is done by the owner of the movie, the one who submits the film to BF in the first place.

Old movies are not uploaded.

But right now the channel contains “gefunden” which is not right. I tried to remove it, I couldn’t, I guess Steffan should do it, and we are all fine.

Since old movies aren’t uploaded there automatically, there is no copyright problem. Who ever submits his/her movie to BF automatically submits it tou youtube, and since that is done by the owner of the film (as long as he/she is informed) that is okay.

@ahnt – I don’t see that movie anywhere in either the directory or the youtube channel.

I do too. His name owns the crap out of every one of your names.

But seriously he seems pretty cool.

Hehe. I’ve noticed that phrase a lot from Site Programmers in video/text tutorials on stuff like PHP tutorials.

Sorry for the double post…

One more thing. I think ye should consider making the text smaller. The size at the moment is huge, the same height as the emotes.

Yea, I’d like smaller text also.

@stephenl:

thanks for removing it !
It seems that suddenly someone feels a bit responsible and has some missed magic power to do, what people asked times ago…

maybe some day golego will return – but i think right now it´s not the right time with the right feeling for that.

I’d certainly like to see this site back to its former glory by having lots of awesome content

maybe time heals a big and still open ragged wound – let´s see, what´s coming…
