I’m not the authority on this subject – if there is a problem, please bring it up with the owner of the site. I’m just following marching orders and trying to get things up as quick as possible. Considering they are already in the channel, however, I have my doubts that its really that big of a deal. All we’re doing is allowing people to search the channel and watch the movies, not claiming ownership or anything like that. Also, if someone wants their movie removed then they should contact the owner of the site.
Is there any plan in the future to reinstate the old style links to films (in the format http://brickfilms.com/films/123)? I was browsing the interwebs and there’s a whole lot of sites that link directly to film pages here and they currently get a 404. A lot of those films are hard to find outside of this place and it would be nice to have access to them.
–Yes. I should have the browsing up by late tonight (its currently 15:13 here and I’d expect the directory to be up in full by about 21:00).February 10, 2009 at 9:21 pm #405913

I think Smeagol’s point is that many brickfilmers actually generate revenue through the partner program, so people watching their videos on another channel is actually costing them money.
But yes, this is an issue to take up with the owner.

Understood, I don’t mean to hold this against you personally given it’s not under your control, I appreciate your receptiveness and work ethic on the site. I can’t personally verify that these people don’t want their films on the channel but I wanted to clarify that the previous owner of this site deliberately left out the podcast materials in the sale, and made this very clear. And what Leonardo said.
With all due respect, the last time people requested to the owner that their films be removed from the site, editing on the directory was locked so they couldn’t remove their films. So while the owner would probably be the right person to address, you have to understand that many people are going to be reluctant to ask her about this kind of thing.February 10, 2009 at 11:24 pm #405923

Or you could just ask.
I’m not uploading every video that was in the old database – though I’d like to contact the owners and ask about that. Forward me over the list of videos that need to be removed and I’ll take care of them – the code on the mod side isn’t 100% yet (still needs pagination, and a couple other things).
Regarding the quality part, I know there is a ‘hi res’ option available, and I was aproached with a request about another video site that I am seriously considering implementing – you’d just paste in the link and we’d include what we could in the directory (but not the channel). The chanell is only for people who WANT to be part of the channel. Otherwise you can just give us a link to put you in the on-site directory. Hope that clears things up.February 11, 2009 at 8:15 pm #405975

Hehe. I’ve noticed that phrase a lot from Site Programmers in video/text tutorials on stuff like PHP tutorials.
Sorry for the double post…
One more thing. I think ye should consider making the text smaller. The size at the moment is huge, the same height as the emotes.February 11, 2009 at 8:21 pm #405979
