Hey Rev. When are you gonna clean up all the users that have all those names like “Bman” “Yellowhead Studios” etc. all those imposters… it would be nice to have a more accurate count of heads and not see those imitators everywhere

Whenever I go through the memberlist and take down all the e-mails and IM account names,
I notice that there are TONS of inactive accounts.

no you don’t wanna kill those, unless your sure they will never jump in. cuz i’ve seen alot remain neeutral (cuz they are lurking around) then come in later

Cleaning up the userlist is something I’ve been intending to do for a while, but haven’t gotten around to it. I want to be careful not to knock out any frequent lurkers. When I go to do it, I’m going to check against the last date visited before I erase someone.

I’d though a bit about this, and Rev,
does a lurker need an account?
I mean, they can view posts and everything without one,
and when they do decide to drop in and post,
they can make an account, but until then,
you could delegate it to someone to delete all the 0-post accounts.

I feel that lurkers *do* need an account. They can reserve the name they will want to use in the future. This is especially important since the film submission will be coupled to the account in the future.

I couldn’t agree more Stefan. I used to lurk alot a long time ago. but i wouldnt want my account to be deleted. cuz i remember i just popped in from lurking one day… i think thats what happened…

If u clean up the ones with 0 posts u could do a lot of damage. jamesfm had 0 posts for a long long time!

Hey rev, as to make sure you dont kill any lurkers, you can send a mass email to everyone, and if the send back you leave em, if not you delete em… and give em bout as month to respond. thats the simplist ay i can think of, and i think phpbb lets you just click a button to do it…

No.. with phpbb its mass emailing “all users” only.. see http://hockey07.x-world.nl/images/email_all_users.jpg for more information (its a pic of it lol). Or rev can stick them in their own usergroup and email them that way

i was a lurker for like six months b4 i used my account…..
and i think that a lurker has the right to his name….
if its ther just leave it alone….
though the imposters could be dealt with in a very inhumane way(along with certain Others Creatins that frequent just to be seen..)
though most have poked there heads in here once in awhile….
