It seems like I’ve been answering this question a lot recently (or maybe I’m just crazy) so here’s everything you need to know about getting a film in the Directory. I looked for one, but I couldn’t find another thread like this, so hopefully this will answer some questions.

Because I’m not on the Review Panel, I can’t go into too much detail about the review process, but this thread will tell you about the Directory and how to get a film into it. Its really just a compilation of some questions I’ve seen recently. Please don’t be offended if I have taken your question to use here.

Q: What is the Directory?
A: The Directory is a showcase of the best brickfilms submitted to it. Not every film will be accepted, though. The Directory isn’t a showcase of every brickfilm.

Q: How do I upload a film to Brickfilms?
A: Brickfilms doesn’t host the films, so you’re not really uploading a film to Brickfilms. Instead you have to submit your film to the Directory.

Q: Okay, so how do I submit a film to the Directory?
A: Click on the link “Film” at the top of the page, and on the next page, click “Upload a Video to the Directory!” Then follow the instructions on the following page.

If you’d like your film to be hosted on the official Brickfilms.com Youtube channel, you can upload it directly to the channel through the site. This is optional, however, and you can instead host it on your own Youtube or Vimeo channel, but it must be uploaded to the channel beforehand.

Q: Why isn’t my video appearing?
A: Only some videos get accepted into the directory. If they meet the standards set, they will be accepted, but if they don’t, they won’t be placed in the directory.

Q: How do I make it so my video isn’t set to Private, it’s not appearing?
A: Brickfilms doesn’t have a Private function, so your film probably just hasn’t been accepted to the Directory yet (or it has been rejected). But if it is showing up and it says its Private, please read the following question.

Q: It says my video is Private, you liar! How do I make it so everyone can see?
A: I’m not lying, so please don’t insult your friendly neighborhood answer-person. This is something with Youtube (or Vimeo), not Brickfilms. You’ll need to go to the videos settings on your Youtube or Vimeo account and set it to its not private.

Q: HELP!!! MY VIDEO ISN’T SHOWING UP!!!

A: If you really think your film deserves a place in the directory, please place an appeal here: Was your film rejected?. However, it still might not be placed in the Directory.
