Congratulations! You’ve been selected to help play a significant role in the next generation of this website. Although you may not be aware of it, the Brickfilms Code Monkeys do a lot of work everyday that goes unseen by most people. Most of it is still experimental, hence the reason for limited/no public access. But now that we feel that certain parts of this project are nearing completion we’d like to start changing that… however, there’s a problem. We don’t have beta testers. We have the Patrons, yes, and we will still give them access to new features before everyone else, but the size of the patrons group has grown so large that having them test something can be very overwhelming and put a lot of pressure on us programmers (the recent ratings upgrade is a good example of this). So, what we would like to do is allow you to see and test and try out these wonderful features and give us feedback. Tell us what you like/don’t like. Tell us what can be improved. Give us suggestions for new, creative, innovative things that will help brickfilms give even more back to the community. Thank you all for agreeing to help out with this. We’ll have the first thing for you guys to test out within a week!
Oh! I forgot to mention one very important thing, please please please please keep these things to yourself. If something we’re developing ends up falling through and everyone in the chat or on the forums knows about it, the pressure will be high and it won’t do any good. Just keep it amongst yourselves. Mmk? The list of beta testers so far: Lechnology |

Glad to be here. I look forward to testing. Not to sound sappy or anything, but I want to really thank all the Brickfilm.com Code Monkeys for all their hard and often unappreciated work. Kudos to you all! |

Query: just how many ‘code monkeys’ are there? I know that originally RevMen did the coding, but it’s now grown beyond his capacity to maintain. The ‘big two’ that I was aware of were Z and Stefan, but Stefan has been keeping a low profile recently so anytime there was something that needed doing, I went through Z. And obviously Schlaeps is now the ‘main guy’, at least as far as I can tell. First suggestion: Submission page upgrade / alteration. The wording change would mainly be to just emphasize the fact that acceptance to the Directory is not automatic and that all the fields ought to be filled out. [/suggestion] Other than that, I find it quite exciting to hear about these new upgrades and am quite aware of the need for testing before sharing with the wider community. |

That upgrade doesn’t sound very difficult at all. Go ahead and give me a PM with the things you want to change and I’ll get it done. As for Z and Stefan, I’m sure they’re both just caught up in school/social lives (both of which I tend to neglect in order to make awesome brickfilms.com things). And Z, Stefan and I are the only Code Monkey’s (thus far). |
