    Hey, all.

It’s been about 7 years since Asasazi Stopmotion Animator was released and hosted by Marc Spess at animateclay.com

I spoke with him this morning and he said that the program was open source, so I was wondering if anyone here would like to upgrade it. It appears that Spess’s rival site, Clayanimator.com, has stolen his program and made only one change—he plastered HIS logo all over it by coding that into the source.

Now, many of us here at Brickfilms have been using Anasazi for years, and it has only been updated once in that time. I think it’s high time that someone updated it with the features we could all use—frame averaging, output to quicktime movie, output to numbered frames, frame batch import… Why not retool Anasazi so that it’s more l ike Monkey Jam, only with the ability to play back what you just shot without rendering it as a preview? (A feature of Asasazi I have always liked).

I am certain that the brilliant minds here could re-make Anasazi into a capture program to be reckoned with.

Yes, I plan on releasing the source code under the GNU GPL. I think I’ll wait until I can get another developer or two before I submit a request for a project.

You can have the job of website maintainer if you want it. I’m assuming that you’ve made some of the images on the site, so could you make new button icons for the program that match?

Sorry, I reworked it (started over to separate design from logic) so it may not work right now. I’ll post here when I have it working. But anyways, here’s a little bit of what it looks like:

It doesn’t look quite like I wanted it to, but it’s close enough. The icons are something I came up with quick, and will be replacing.

I can’t get to Bluejean’s program so can somebody post a snapshot?

it would be cool if they added some simple special effects. Such as green and blue screening.

I think I have mentioned this before, but a big time line with the frames shown would be nice.

Oh, the way he worded it, it was hard to tell. Thanks for the clarification, man.

What is inbetween frames? Do you mean tweening?

It has been tried in stopmotion,

but each frame is too different frame the last, so it really hasn’t worked very well, except for very small increments of movement, where it would be easy for the program to clone the pixels between the frames that come before and after the frame in question.

    Insert inbetween frames feature?
