What experience do I have relating to my desired ministry?
With all of the films that I have released, the sound design has been criticized the most. Through my past mistakes that I have learned quite a bit about sound design. I am also very interested in foley. I’ve spent hours sitting in front of my microphone recording various sounds like setting down objects, dropping objects, or even just making noises with my guitar and seeing if they would be useful in a film.

How much time would I be able to spend performing my duties as Minister of Sound?
I visit the site pretty much daily (with a few exceptions). I have plenty of spare time to give to performing my duties as Minister of Sound.

What are my ideas to expand or improve the Ministry?
Well, I have a plan very similar to chosen1′s plan when he was minister of sound. My plan can be broken down into three steps:
The first thing I would like to accomplish as minister of sound would be to establish an official brickfilms voice actor profile section of the sound library.

What is this “Voice Actor Profile” page you speak of?

Well, this idea was brought up a while ago, but unfortunately, it was shot down. In January, Schlaeps set one up on Lord_Of_The_LEGO’s server, but it is rarely used anymore. Basically what it is, is a library where a brickfilmer looking for a voice actor can go and listen to a prerecorded line, and then decide if that person is the correct actor or actress for the part, then they can just contact them through a PM. This method is a lot easier than posting a casting call thread, and waiting for the voice actors and actresses to send in their test lines.

My second idea for the sound library is a pretty obvious one, getting more sounds. If I counted correctly, there are only 104 sounds in the entire sound library excluding music clips. All of these clips are excellent and useful, but I know there are some great foley artists out there and the sound library could include more. I will not lower standards to get more sounds. I will just encourage more people to submit and request sounds.

My third and final step for improving the sound library is getting more music. There are only 29 sound tracks in the sound library. They are also very great in quality, just like the sounds in the sound library. I just think there needs to be more. The music in a film sets the mood, so we as brickfilmers need music that can be used to set different moods. Also, not all brickfilmers can write their own scores, nor can they find a composer to write it for them. If more composers come forward to write just a generic score, we won’t hear the same 29 songs in a lot of brickfims.

Another issue I’d like to address on the subject of musical scores, the sound library currently does not consist of any loops, however it includes a loop category. If anyone would like to write a small loop for that, that would be great.
That is just my plan for the brickfilms sound library. I am totally open to suggestions as this is all about the brickfilmers, not just my ideas.

A great idea that has been brought up by Lechnology is that we should provide links to the websites of all the composers and sound contributors.

How can I help?
Well, you can obviously help by voting for me, or submitting sounds to the sound library (as long as their good enough quality). Another way you can show your support is by using my signature image or a NickMOC ’08 avatar badge.

So that’s my plan for success if I am elected minister of sound in 2008. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here, or PM me.

This maybe more related to the Resource department, but how about providing links to the sites of composers who have contributed music to the site as well as links to sound contributors?

As I stated earlier I am open to new ideas, and that is a great idea Lechnology. Thank you for bringing it up.

I thank you for showing so much support in this, I have had a lot of people who agreed with my ideas, unfortunately do to problems (that were not my own) I was unable to see these through. So, I recommend you PM the proper people for permission and clearance.

However, I will not be casting a vote for minister of sound because I intend to continue where I left off on my last term. I will not be continuing it this term, but the one after this, and I want to personally see it completed.

But I do wish you luck on your ministry.

Is there a reason you’ve chosen to disregard the candidate questions in the PM that was sent out?

But the questions are for a groundwork of equality, a basis for members to be able to weigh the candidates by a few similar questions, for those who won’t/can’t read through an entire thread, and the updates every single day. To see who is capable of reading and understanding the rules, and relaying information to the members most efficiently.

Sorry, I must have missed that when I was reading through it. I will fix that immediately.

In regard to the voice actor profile – I can see how it would be useful, but then again, it seems that if that were the case, people would have to go out and search for who they wanted to play the part. It seems that, unless the person has preordained someone to play the part, it would be easier to wait for someone to reply in a casting call instead of searching for an actor themselves.

Furthermore, how comprehensive of a voice actor profile do you plan on having? It seems that a proper one would have to have several pre-set “test lines” in the profile instead of just one to work properly, maybe displaying different moods and/or accents that the actor can do. Do you plan on enacting this type of system? Also, how do you plan to encourage the use of the system if the above conditions hold true?

I plan on one very similar to the one that Schlaeps set up on LOTL’s server with one or two test lines. It would also include accents and moods that the actor can perform.
